Estremoz marble

This sculpture was created for (and left in) a stream bed. When I first arrived in Evoramonte in early June 2014, the stream was small, but flowing. Over the course of the month it dried up, but I carved this marble shoeprint, keeping in mind the difficulty of finding a stone to step on when I first crossed it. The idea is that when the rains come in the winter and  the stream flows again, this bright white stone will visibly mark the way for and assist those who wish to travel across.
